Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder wherein the person’s control for sleep and wakefulness is disrupted. People with narcolepsy usually have disturbed sleep pattern making them drowsy during the day. This drowsiness or sudden sleep attacks can happen anytime and anywhere making them at risk for injury and accidents. Some also have symptoms of cataplexy or inability to move muscles or even speak. Hallucinations may also be experienced by people affected by this condition. If you think these signs and symptoms reflect your ordeal, a consultation with a sleep specialist may help.
