Having trouble falling asleep, tossing and turning to bed for quite a time before you finally doze off? After that, you wake up too early which makes you feel tired than ever? You may be experiencing insomnia. Insomnia is a sleep disorder wherein you have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. This sleep problem is grouped according to the duration that you are experiencing its symptoms.

ACUTE OR SHORT-TERM INSOMNIA

Acute insomnia happens when you experience consistent sleeplessness for weeks but lasts not more than a month. Your difficulty in falling and/or staying asleep occurs despite having the opportunity to have a restful sleep. This also results in problems with your day-to-day functioning.

CHRONIC INSOMNIA

This type of insomnia occurs when you have problems falling or staying asleep that lasts for more than a month and sometimes years. Majority of the people having this type of sleep trouble have another condition which caused this problem. The effects of this problem on your daily functioning may depend on what caused it.
