Tired of your partner’s annoying loud weird snore? Plus, your partner also wakes up from sleep gasping for air. Maybe, your partner has sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition wherein you experience pauses in your breathing along with choking or gasping sounds during your sleep. Daytime tiredness and mood changes or irritability may also be present.

There are two types of sleep apnea namely obstructive and central. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a more common form of this condition wherein the muscles at the back of your throat relaxes causing a blockage in your airway. In Central sleep apnea, the brain fails to properly control breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea can be life-threatening. If you suspect sleep apnea, please visit a sleep specialist.
