About 1 in every 10 American adults experience Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). This is a sleep-related movement disorder which manifests as a creeping, tingling or burning sensations in your legs and sometimes your arms especially in the evening making it hard for you to sleep. An irresistible urge to move your legs until the sensations disappear can be seen with RLS. You may also feel drowsy, tired and irritable due to the disturbance in your sleep.
The cause of RLS can be divided into primary and secondary. Primary RLS happens when the signs and symptoms you are having is not associated with any condition or has no known cause. Secondary RLS occurs when the condition is caused by other health problems or situation you may have. For further evaluation, you may visit a doctor or sleep specialist.
